An average movie

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but, since I have a weak spot for Abbie Cornish and since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, to be honest, I was actually surprised by how boring the damned thing turned out to be. Basically, it is a typical slow-burn horror flick and, maybe I’m getting fed up with the genre but, even so, this movie didn’t bring anything interesting or new to the genre, that’s for sure. Seriously, instead of actually showing anything or telling anything, they just kept giving some ominous music which is such a cheap and weak approach. At least, I have to admit that it did look good though and many shots were pretty neat. Furthermore, it was nice that Abbie Cornish was playing the lead for once and she was quite gorgeous here but I’m afraid there was not much she could do with this material. On top of that, she had no chemistry whatsoever with Diego Klattenhoff and their domestic drama at the beginning was rather pathetic. Seriously, what was actually the added value for this story? In fact, I’m pretty sure it would have worked better if they would have displayed this couple as being perfectly happy but, on the other hand, I don’t think it would have really make a difference though. Of course, at the end, there was some twist but, even though it did make more or less sense, it was hardly surprising or entertaining just like the rest of this movie. Anyway, to conclude, even if I have to admit that it was rather harmless, it was also terribly tedious to watch and I don’t think it is worth a look, except maybe if you are a die-hard fan of the genre.
