Extraction 2 review

An average movie

Since this movie seemed to have a decent reputation and since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Since 'Extraction' was probably the first blockbuster released by Netflix which turned out to be successful, it seemed to be a no brainer to come up with a sequel. Well, I'm pretty sure the fans will be pleased but, as far as I was concerned, it turned out to be a decent watch but, to be honest, not much more than that. In fact, it's only after watching this movie that I found out that the previous installment already didn't impress me after all. Anyway, it was still a solid action flick though, no doubt about it. First of all, it was nice that they took their time to reintroduce Tyler Rake and have him recuperate from his terrible wounds from the previous movie. However, it's too bad that they did send him back to his next mission while he was still a cripple which was rather ridiculous. Coming back on the mission itself, I really enjoyed the rescue scene in the jail. That was indeed really badass and convincing and I wish they did manage to spend more time in there. Unfortunately, it didn't work out so well when they got to Vienna though. I mean, to have such full-blown gun fights in the streets of Bangladesh of Georgia might be possible but in the middle of a West European country like Austria? It did seem rather far-fetched. Seriously, how come only a few police cars were sent there? Basically, it felt as if this major European city was suddenly left empty so that these two heavily armed groups could fight each other seemingly endlessly which wasn't really believable. Anyway, at least, Chris Hemsworth, who was apparently born to play such characters, was fine and I have to say that I was also impressed by Golshifteh Farahani who managed to remain feminine and yet she was always completely convincing while she was fighting some goons. Anyway, to conclude, even if it didn't really blow me away, I have to admit that it was still fairly entertaining and it is worth a look, especially if you like the genre.ย
