A good movie

I actually already saw this movie when it was released in the movie theater. In fact, even though I was eager to see this movie, I wasn’t even planning to watch it when it was released. Originally, I had planned to watch 'Oppenheimer' instead but, unfortunately, it didn't work out with my film club so I had to pick up this movie at the last minute. On the other hand, it was already the 4th movie directed by Wes Anderson watched by our film club, more than any other director, which was pretty cool. Unfortunately, I was at the time seriously exhausted and I struggled not to fall asleep through the whole duration. As a result, I was quite eager to  check it out again, especially since it was available on Netflix. Well, I’m glad I gave it a second look as I was this time much more able to focus and I was therefore much more able to enjoy it the second time around. To be honest, it is still not one of my favorite movies directed by Anderson but I do understand now why when it was released it was praised as being one of his best by some critics. Of course, visually, as usual with Anderson, it looked amazing as each scene was turned into some kind of gorgeous painting. Concerning the cast, well, I won't name all the famous and insanely talented actors involved but it's obvious that they had a blast with this material, especially with the dialogues which were often quite hilarious. Finally, what bothered me the most when I first watched it and what bothered many other viewers was the plot. However, after rewatching it, I came to the conclusion that, on this level, this movie actually doesn’t disappoint as it might be his most dense and complex movie so far. Indeed, what was it about? I’m still not sure but, even though this aspect did bother me when I first saw it, it made the whole thing actually quite intriguing when I was rewatching it. I mean, the mood was actually really neat and there were so many layers, even probably too many, just like the characters. Anyway, to conclude, even if it was not a masterpiece, it was still pretty neat and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you're interested in Wes Anderson's work.
