I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but since it was starring Amanda Seyfried and since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. To be honest, I really had no idea what this movie was about and, for some reason, I thought it might be about some kind of STD. Well, it turned out be something completely different after all. Indeed, instead, it was dealing with one of these guys who actually get paid to clap and to cheer during your average TV show and, right from the start, I thought it was such a misguided idea. At least, I do think that the romance between Eddie Krumble and Judy was actually really sweet and, thanks for them, I don't think it was a total disaster but everything else was rather lame, I'm afraid. I mean, it was not a bad idea to show how such shows actually can make fun of pretty much anyone just to entertain their audience and how cruel and mean-spirited it can be. However, you might wonder why Eddie was so distressed by the fact that he became overnight a celebrity. Sure, he probably lost his job but he could probably fairly easily find something else. Even more ridiculous was that, after they finally got their hands on Eddie, they started to search for Judy as well which was even more convoluted. Indeed, to make it work somehow, they had to create the only girl living in Los Angeles who had no (functioning) TV, no smartphone, no access to internet and apparently no social life whatsoever. Indeed, it was the only way to make sure that she completely misunderstood Eddy's intentions which was some seriously weak writing. Anyway, to conclude, even though I had a weak spot for this couple, the damned thing never really worked and I don't think it is really worth a look.
