This is an excellent and beautiful videogame.
An intriguing backstory, charismatic characters, fun to play, and fantastic art!
The narrative:
The characters here are simple, but memorable. Sam, is a character you'll love.
John, although he never talks, his existence shows how the character is.
and there are some more characters that feel "alive."
The plot, is simple too and it's Epic, Scary, and Sad. I love how the storytelling feels dynamic during gameplay.
I'm not going to go into detail about the plot. I recommend you play the game and look for it.
Gameplay:
The gameplay is fantastic. It's amusing and balanced in its difficulty.
The bosses are, like their names indicate, "bosses.". Each boss has different mechanics and isn't simple, also they aren't impossible to win.
The world's enemies are fun to kill. The puzzles are also amusing, and the minigames are amusing too.
The two-roll gameplay intensifies the game's mechanics while also emphasizing the relationship between John and Sam.
The farming isn't necessary for winning, and I appreciate that.
The art:
The art aspect of this game is excellent!!! The pixelart , the animations, the soundtrack... ufff. I love it. They aren't weak in any aspect. All are perfect.
I think this game is almost perfect. And this is my favorite indie game for now.
Like other works, it has problems. aren't crucial, but they're useful to know.
Game's issues:
- There isn't always enough time to explore some characters. Sometimes it feels weak.
-The plot of the Monkey-Wood isn't particularly important; it couldn't be present at the game. It doesn't make sense how you arrive there.
I hope you play this game. It's a game that deserves more attention and appreciation.
It'll make you cry.
