A good movie

Following the decent but, as far as I was concerned, eventually slightly disappointing ‘Werewolf by Night’, Marvel was coming up with another Christmas special and I have to admit that I was quite eager to check it out. Indeed, it was focusing on the Guardians of the Galaxy and I was hoping something really weird or wild. Well, even though it was apparently well received, I thought it was fairly entertaining but, to be honest, not much more than that. One thing that bothered me was how they actually exaggerated how this movie was supposed to be a bridge between ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ and ‘Guardians of the galaxy vol.3’. Indeed, except for maybe 2 of 3 interesting new things, there was actually once again very little connecting tissue with the rest of the MCU after all. Eventually, it is something that can be said about most of the Phase 4 which, I’m afraid, turned out to be a rather disjointed mess after all. Still, these characters have always been fun and entertaining and they once again didn’t disappoint here. It was also pretty cool that Kevin Bacon got involved and the legendary actor was really game. However, it wasn’t really so wild or ‘meta’ in spite of what many seemed to think (basically, you get to see Drax and Mantis wandering around on Earth and getting drunk in the process which was not a bad idea but it wasn’t really impressive either) and it turned to be a sweet Christmas special but not much more than that after all. Anyway, to conclude, even if it didn’t blow me away, it was still a decent watch though and it is worth a look, especially if you are fan of the MCU.
