The lovely Dr. Karin Chakwas is a female character that made her first appearance in the hit video game, Mass Effect. Voiced by Carolyn Seymour, Chakwas is portrayed in the series as a doctor aboard the SSV Normandy who enlisted with the Alliance upon graduating from medical school. Originally joining the service in pursuit of an “exotic adventure,” Dr. Chakwas’ attitude was eventually sobered, prompting her to remain with the Alliance “out of a sense of duty to humanity” (masseffect.fandom.com). After remaining with the Alliance for a considerable amount of time, Chakwas eventually earned the rank of major. Throughout the Mass Effect series, she is highly-skilled at her job, and possesses a remarkable understanding of both human and alien biology which enables her to treat nearly any crew member with ease.
