An average movie

Well, I keep watching this franchise but, to be honest, I’m glad I only have one instalment left to watch (There are actually much more but I don’t have them and they all have a really poor reputation). The previous movie was apparently such a hit (it was up to that point the highest grossing comedy ever released) that they didn’t wait another decade and released this new sequel just one year later. Anyway, it seems that this one is considered as one of the best by the fans and it did feel less random than its predecessor, at least, up until all these assassins showed up to kill Clouseau. In fact, this movie felt more like a James Bond feature, with this mad villain in his secret lair plotting to destroy the world, all these spies included and also the final scene. Talking about spies, I was constantly wondering when Lesley-Anne Down would finally show up and it’s too bad she was given so very little to do as her character had some potential (the fact that she was easily the most gorgeous actress in this franchise made her also even more interesting). It was also surprising that even though it was mentioned in the title, the Pink Panther diamond had nothing to do with the story which displays how random this franchise had become. Eventually, at this point, the Pink Panther and Clouseau had become one bankable brand so they will be forever linked together from this point on. Concerning the jokes and Peter Sellers, I know the fans would tell you that it was all hilarious but, to be honest, I did smile a couple of times but not much more than that. Anyway, to conclude, even if I didn’t care much for it, I have to admit that it is still worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
