An average movie

First of all, I have to admit that I didn’t really like ‘Daddy’s Home’ but since this sequel was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, I’m probably giving this movie way too much credit because I was expecting something so bad but, to be honest, I thought it was not bad at all. Of course, the damned thing was really generic and completely predictable but, at least, I thought it was much more enjoyable than the previous installment which completely bored me. Indeed, in ‘Daddy’s Home’, the huge mistake they made was to constantly focus on the annoying and tedious bickering between Brad and Dusty but, with this sequel, it was actually the other way around, they focused instead on how well they got along which was much more fun and enjoyable to watch. Of course, they had to bring someone else to mess up this harmony between them and poor Mel Gibson did end up with this rather thankless job. Seriously, I was constantly wondering what was this guy problem. I mean, in ‘Daddy’s Home’, Dusty’s behavior was just really annoying as well but he was acting this way because he was afraid he might loose his children. But why would a grand-father try to start a feud between his son and the stepfather of his grandchildren, especially since they seem to get along so well? Was he maybe jealous to see other people happy? Anyway, fortunately, there were so many characters and so many subplots involved this time around that everything attempted by Kurt never really had such an impact on the whole thing. Hell, even the jokes seemed to be slight better this time around and even the Christmas vibe actually worked. I don’t know why I’m being actually rather positive, it’s probably only because it didn’t turn out to be a complete disaster after all. Anyway, to conclude, I’m probably being way too generous here but I guess it might be actually worth a look, at least, if you really like the genre.
