A good movie

Even though I enjoyed the first movie, since most sequels are disappointing, I wasn't really expecting much from this flick. Eventually, I was actually positively surprised. I mean, it was not as refreshing and original as the first flick but I thought it was still pretty good. I mean, the 'heart condition' didn't work as well as the whole adrenaline thing but it was still good enough. The masterstroke was that they picked up the storyline right where it stopped the last time and even though the whole thing was far-fetched, it still made some sense, at least in the crazy world of Chev Chelios. So, once again, you had a succession of messed-up and preposterous action scenes but that's the whole point of those movies. I must admit that that some scenes didn't work very well this time and some characters were really annoying (for example, the one portrayed by Bai Ling and 'Venus') but each time I was thinking 'Ok, now, it is just not working for me anymore...', they would throw some unbelievable action scene and I had once again a huge grin on my face. The point is that, with most of the action movies I watch, even though they can be entertaining, they are just so generic and they are missing either an original story and/or some interesting characters. It is usually only about the fighting, the explosions, the chases, that kind of stuff and I usually get bored fairly quickly. With Chev Chelios, they pushed the envelop so far out and they didn't give a sh*t about getting a R rating. As a result, I just had a good time watching those and that's all that counts. To conclude, it was not better than the first flick but it was still better than most action flicks coming out those days and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
