An average movie

I have noticed that this movie is quite popular here on Listal and in general and it is indeed a decent action/drama but nothing more than that, I'm afraid. I wonder if the viewers who love this movie have seen Singleton's directing debut 'Boyz n the Hood'. John Singleton was only 24 years old when he made this movie and became the youngest man ever nominated for Best director academy award. I mean, this was an amazing movie and you should definitely check it out. Still, 15 years later, he made this new action flick and it is not bad at all, the directing was really good and there was a nice cast (Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, André Benjamin, Garrett Hedlund, Terrence Howard, Josh Charles, Sofía Vergara, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Taraji P. Henson) and they all gave some convincing performances. I guess, it all depends where you stand concerning action movies. I mean, fans would legitimately tell me that the plot is not really important, that it is all about the execution and I must admit that this movie was quite perfectly executed indeed. Unfortunately, in my case, I don't care if I watch a drama, a comedy or an action flick, the story has to be more or less interesting and, in this case, it was rather generic, I'm afraid. To conclude, it still remain a well made and entertaining action movie and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
