An average movie

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from this flick but since there was a decent cast involved, I thought I might as well check it out. In fact, just a couple of days ago, I also re-watched ‘Love Actually’ with my wife and even if I’m not a huge fan like her, I have to admit that it is definitely a decent romantic-comedy. However, the most annoying thing about this classic is that we get nowadays so many worthless copycats and this movie was a perfect example, I’m afraid. Indeed, that’s probably one of the most disheartening aspects regarding the Dutch film industry, its complete lack of originality constantly ripping off other TV-shows and other successful movies. Anyway, as expected, you end up in this movie with a bunch of seriously half-baked little stories involving a bunch of really poorly developed characters who were never really entertaining or interesting to behold. The only one who managed to do something slightly worthwhile with this material was Fedja van Huêt. Indeed, the guy is actually a fine actor and he was here able to convincingly portray a man going though a tough mourning process. I also liked the idea of a famous TV-show host dropping of the grid weeks before his show was supposed to be on the air. However, even this idea was completely ruined by the fact that he, for no clear reasons whatsoever, still came back in the nick of time to host the damned thing after all. Concerning the rest of the movie, well, none of it was convincing and/or entertaining whatsoever. Anyway, to conclude, it turned out to be another useless Dutch romantic-comedy and I think you should pretty much avoid it, except maybe if you are a die-hard fan of the genre.
