An average movie

Honestly, before watching this flick, I had never heard of it before and I'm pretty sure it was a flop when it was released. Anyway, when I heard it was dealing with a short-story written by Philip K. Dick, I thought it could be pretty cool. Unfortunately, I thought the whole thing was rather disappointing. I mean, the material, as usual with this author, was quite provocative and it could have been awesome but I thought the execucation was rather poor. Indeed, you have here a rather interesting cast (Gary Sinise, Madeleine Stowe , Vincent D'Onofrio, Tony Shalhoub, Mekhi Phifer, Gary Dourdan) but I thought they all gave some average or even poor performances. The directing was even less impressive and I thought this vision of the future looked very cheap and far from convincing. I mean, 20 years earlier, they were able to produce something much more striking with 'Blade Runner'. Furthermore, even though the story had some potential, it was nothing amazing and I guessed the twist within the first 15 minutes ( there was even a 2nd twist but it wasn't a surprise either...). To conclude, it could have been good but it remains an average SF flick and it is not really worth a look, even if you love this genre like me.
