An average movie

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from the damned thing but, since I have a weak spot for Kristen Bell, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, unfortunately, like most of the movies starring Melissa McCarthy, I just really struggled to care about the damned thing. I mean, sure, I have to admit it, McCarthy can be funny but, in each of her movies, she always goes for the very same gimmick. Indeed, once again, she played another foul-mouthed woman with some major asocial tendencies, the only difference was that this woman was (at least, at the beginning) filthy rich. The annoying thing was that, since this woman managed to build up a financial empire from nothing, she must have been terribly smart which was a nice change of pace for this actress who always played some really stupid characters but, no, Michelle Darnell turned out to be just as dim-witted as the other characters played by McCarthy after all. To make things worse, not only the main character, but the whole movie itself displayed a very low IQ. I mean, through the whole thing, they never displayed once a single financial fact, method, strategy, whatever that explained how Darnell managed to get to the top. Basically, she managed to make a comeback because the woman she was crashing at was also apparently a great brownie maker. So, that was the message of this movie, to become rich, you have to find a great recipe?!? Like I said, it was pretty stupid… As displayed in such movies like ‘Wall Street’ or ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’, to get rich, you don’t need a great recipe or some great invention, you should actually be able to make tons of money out of thin air, at least, if you know how to do it. Anyway, to conclude, the damned thing was pretty weak and I don’t see any reason why you should check it out.
