I have to admit that I had actually never heard of Hernan Cattaneo before but since there was this new documentary on Netflix about the Argentinian DJ, I thought I might as well check one of his sets on YouTube. Well, his set turned out to be really neat and the idea of watching the guy giving a concert with a symphonic orchestra in one of the most prestigious concert halls in Argentina did sound pretty awesome. Well, to be honest, the damned thing turned out to actually slightly disappointing after all. First of all, Cattaneo is actually pretty notorious for his seemingly endless DJ sets (the one I watched was almost 5 hours) but this movie was actually rather short and, basically, they didn’t really show the concert itself but gave instead some kind of very long introduction. Indeed, the first half was about the production but they never really went into details on how it all went down and, instead, you got to see various people telling how challenging this project was and praising Cattaneo for being such a great talent. To be honest, I thought this movie would be only about the actual concert so I didn’t expect to see some behind the scenes footage but it wasn’t necessarily a bad idea. However, once again, it was too short, so the added value was actually rather dubious. Then, at last, the concert did start and while it did look promising, they gave us only a few highlights (I think there was maybe 5 songs only) and I don’t think it was enough to really judge the end-result. Anyway, to conclude, even though it was an interesting project from an interesting DJ and even though this documentary was still a decent watch, if you are interested, I think you should rather watch the actual concert on YouTube (I actually added this video on this website).
