An average movie

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but it had been suggested by another Listal member and, in fact, I took me many years to finally watch the damned thing. Well, to be honest, I think I would have been more able to appreciate it when it had been released 10 years ago. Indeed, in the meantime, I saw around 10 seasons of ‘The Walking Dead’ and dozens of other zombie flicks so I wasn’t exactly impressed by this one. I mean, I know it was a cheap flick but I never felt like I was watching an actual ‘horde’ of zombies. At least, it was neat to see a French zombie flick and it was interesting that it was taking place in the ‘banlieue’ (a French ghetto) but, eventually, the makers didn’t do much with this environment after all. Concerning the concept, it was not a bad idea to have these gangsters teaming up with these cops against these zombies but the introduction was still pretty awkward though. Furthermore, except for Eriq Ebouaney, I didn’t care much for any of the actors involved as none of them was really charismatic but they were not helped by the fact that their characters were not developed whatsoever. At least, it got more entertaining as soon as René got involved. Still, I have to admit that it was neat to see some French film makers trying to deliver a badass zombie flick and the end-result was at least visually quite satisfying. Anyway, to conclude, even if it didn’t really blow me away, I have to admit it was still a decent watch and it is worth a look, at least, if you are really like the genre.
