Childhood favourite

As a small child, this was my favourite game. Fun, not too rushed (on easy), with a mythological background that I loved. Now, as a slightly larger child, I look back on this game fondly. It was good, still is, and even though it was not particularly revolutionary, it took the RTS genre and took it to its high point.

Based in a undefined period of time, the game combines Greek, Egyptian, and Norse mythology in a range of environments. Playing out in typical Age of Empires fashion, you construct buildings, defenses, gather the three resources, and advance ages. Along the way, you would build up forces and skirmish the enemy, before jumping on their collective heads with a few hundred elephants. The campaign mode also re-enacted several myths of the three cultures, all strung together with an over-arching plotline.

If you can, pick this one up out of the bargain bin; its worth a play
