Review of Impulsive! Revolutionary Jazz

A fairly descent release of remimxed and reworked jazz tracks. My problem with some of these "remixes" is that they are not jazzy enough. Example would be tracks from Prefuse 73 and Kid Koala. They are good tracks on their own but they could have been placed on any of their original releases and I wouldn't have known the difference. They are some strong track here, like "Sa-Ra CP" remix of Russell's 'A Helluva Town'. This track is still as bump'n as the original. My favorite track is not even a remix but more of an update; "At Night" by Ravi Coltrane gets a new sound from the original poem written by John Coltrane and this version is simply perfect. I love it. Then of course you have the original tracks, which like me, if youโ€™re a jazz lover, is worth the price of admission anyway.
