Review of Mr. Sardonicus (1961)

This was a pretty interesting movie. It's not one of William Castles best but it was watchable. There is some pretty nasty looking torture scenes done for its time as well and although one never really gets scared watching it it has that creepy atmosphere to it. There was suppose to be alternate endings to this movie as well, which was another one of Williams many gimmics, but for some reason not all of these endings were brought to every theatre. The audience was allowed to pick how the ending of the movie took place! Ironicly they could be used for a DVD now-a-days so I think William had a great idea in mind at the time. In short, if you see this movie it's worth a watch for sure but again, it's not one of my favourites by him. I had heard that William got the idea for this film by seeing Les yeux sans visage [Eyes Without a Face] and after watching that one it is really obvious that he did...you should see that one too. You can watch this movie for free on Youtube and download it on Archive.org as well.
