The last days of Craig Ewert

The Suicide Tourist otherwise known as Right to Die? to us in the UK the program was controversial as it shows assisted suicide of Craig Ewert was 59 year old he was a retired university professor who had been suffering from motor neurone disease. Motor Neurone Disease there is nothing they do with it and he had already many things that he could no longer do and it would paralysis his whole body. I have respect for Craig and I believe that no person should live in pain and that if it's there choice to die then it should be only if the person is terminally ill. Craig Ewert and his wife traveled to Switzerland he was assisted by Dignitas NGO. The documentary shows you the last days of Craig and it also shows you his death where he drinks the killer drug which eventually kills him.

The show was the first assisted suicide to be broadcasted in the UK and was shown on the channel Sky Real Lives. People were against the idea broadcasting this show but this is life and you can't hide it plus Craig Ewert had a right to die he was terminally ill and pretty much as he said he didn't want to die a painful death. I did feel bad for Craig as he did want to live his life longer as he wanted to do other things.

The documentry also shows another couple husband and wife I wasn't sure if he was terminally ill but they both wanted assisted suicide. The thing was this couple didn't look ill she definitely didn't I do thing if your healthy why kill yourself when people who are dying wish they had a longer life.

I found this documentry heartwarming as Craig really did sound as a nice person which it was sad to witness what he was going through. This was interesting and the documentry was put together really good I did feel that it was right to broadcast this on UK television because if you don't want to watch it you don't have to nobody is forcing anyone.

I'll leave you with what Craig Ewert did say on the show as I found this words what he did interesting.

"I've got two choices,". "I go through with it or I say, 'You know what? I'm too scared right now. I don't want to do it.' If I go through with it, I die as I must at some point. If I don't go through with it, my choice is essentially to suffer, and to inflict suffering on my family and then die! Possibly in a way that is considerably more painful and stressful than this way." "The Christians never say, 'We have to stop organ transplants. We have to stop helping premature babies.' No, then it's all right to play God."
