I wasn't expecting much from this flick but, somehow, I still ended up watching the damned thing. When it was released, it was a big commercial and critical flop but, to be honest, it was hardly surprising. Indeed, to turn a SNL sketch into a full length feature has always been a rather ill-conceived idea and this movie was a perfect example. And, yet, maybe because I had such a low expectations, I have to admit that it wasn't so bad after all. I mean, it still didn't really work but it was actually sometimes fairly entertaining which was rather surprising since I usually don't care at all about movies with a terribly stupid main character. Of course, all the jokes were rather cringe inducing and at least half of the movie was not funny at all but some of the jokes did work and the whole thing turned out to be much funnier than expected. Above all, the interaction with Ryan Philippe were pretty much spot-on through the whole duration and Kristen Wiig was not bad at all either. On the other hand, Val Kilmer delivered a rather generic and boring villain though. Anyway, to conclude, even though my rating is probably too generous here, I think the damned thing might actually be worth a look but probably only if you really like the genre.
