An average movie

To be honest, I had no idea what to expect from this flick but since there was a decent cast involved, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, eventually, even if it turned out to be a decent watch, it wasn't much more than that, I'm afraid. I mean, Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig both delivered some solid performances, their characters were fairly well written and, on top of that, these two messed-up siblings were highly recognizable. Still, the whole thing never really grabbed me though. It was probably due to the fact that, by now, I have seen my share of indie comedy-dramas dealing with a dysfunctional family and this movie definitely didn't bring anything new to the table. Or maybe the whole thing should have been even darker in tone. For example, the fact that Luke Wilson's character was rather pathetic was a rather poor choice and I think it would have been more interesting, more complex, if she would have been cheating on a husband who was actually quite amazing, shattering in the process their seemingly perfect family. Anyway, to conclude, even if it was nothing really groundbreaking, I still think it is worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
