Pawlikowski improves and exceeds previous Ida's standards, and it's the same Poland, beginning and ending in a ruined church (just missing 'Popiol i diament' Wajda's inverted Christ). Zula is fantastic, weord, fatale in a cold fucking war way. I love the second paris segment when she spits on her own star figure,throwing the longplay and insulting the 'femme poet'...
