A good movie

With DC, with their next movie, you are never sure if they will have another flop but it seems that, this time around, they delivered a box-office hit so there is maybe still some hope for the DCCEU. Indeed, James Wan came up here with a really solid super-hero flick. First of all, the damned thing was just so gorgeous, easily the most beautiful movie delivered by DC so far and even one of the most beautiful super-hero movies I have seen. On top of that, it is one of the very few movies for which the usual dreadful 3D actually had some added value. Concerning Arthur Curry/Aquaman, I thought he was a pretty cool character and, even if Jason Momoa might not be the best actor in the world, his performance was decent enough. Eventually, the only issue with this flick was probably with its story. I mean, it's not that it was very bad, it's just that it was very basic and therefore rather generic and completely predictable. On top of that, while 'Justice League' might have been too short, this movie was slightly too long. I mean, after 2 hours of 3D CGI, even if it was gorgeous, it started to become rather overwhelming and I was waiting for them to finally wrap it up. To be honest, when Marvel started their MCU, except for 'Iron Man', none of their first features were really mind-blowing ('The Incredible Hulk', 'Captain America: The First Avenger', 'Thor'), so it is rather unfair to expect from DC to change the whole game right from the start. Anyway, to conclude, even if it was nothing really groundbreaking, it was still quite entertaining and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.ย
