A very good movie

To be honest, I had no clue what this movie was about so I wasnโ€™t really sure what to expect but since it had been well received, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, eventually, it turned out to be such a powerful and heartbreaking tale. Of course, you might argue that the whole thing was rather predictable but it was so well done, I thought it was just quite spellbinding and, to be honest, I was actually really emotional towards the end. First of all, I really appreciate the fact that they went for a linear structure instead of the usual flashback which has been so overused in this genre. Basically, the movie was split into 2 parts. First, you had Saroo getting lost in Calcutta when he was only 5 years old and this part was pretty much the worst nightmare for any kid of this age, but also for their family. Then, in the second part, you got to see Saroo years later living a seemingly happy life in Australia forgetting all his trouble in India. But, then, at some point, it all comes back to him and what follows was a mix of loss, guilt and sorrow which was just so heartbreaking to behold. Of course, my life was nothing like what Saroo had to face but since Iโ€™m half-French half-Dutch, I have always been torn apart between 2 cultures so this tale somehow really touched me personally. Anyway, to conclude, I really liked this movie a lot and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.ย
