A good movie

Since I really enjoyed 'Yip Man' and since this sequel was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, even though it wasn't an improvement, it was still a decent follow-up though. Indeed, it remains such an interesting character and Donnie Yen delivered once again such a strong performance. Concerning the fighting scenes, obviously, they were as expected really impressive. Still, you could see that they used some hanging ropes especially when they were fighting on some table and while it was still spectacular, it felt a little bit fake and therefore it kind of lost some of its visceral impact. Concerning the story itself, to be honest, it has been a couple of years since I saw 'Yip Man', I have to admit that I was a little bit confused about the chronology and I kept wondering if the whole thing might be taking place before (it does take place after the first movie after all). Anyway, it didn't really matter and you could easily watch this movie on its own. Eventually, the plot was entertaining enough but it was more interesting in the previous installment though and to be honest, it felt rather generic this time around. Anyway, to conclude, even if it wasn't really a masterpiece, it was still a really solid martial-arts flick and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.ย
