An average movie

When I was a kid, back there in France, I grew up reading those comic-books and watched many animated features starring ‘Astérix and Obélix’ and they were indeed pretty awesome. In France, they became so huge, they even built a theme park (which I unfortunately never did visit) and in spite of the huge competition of Disneyland right next door, it is still running today so it must say something. Anyway, at some point, it became a very valuable brand and it seemed natural that they would make a live adaptation with those beloved characters. Unfortunately, to be honest, I didn't really enjoyed the two previous Astérix movies but the concept seemed pretty cool this time and Benoit Poelvoorde can sometimes be really hilarious. This time, they replaced Christian Clavier (a rather famous actor in France) by an upcoming young actor, Clovis Cornillac. I'm not sure which one of them was better for this part but it doesn't really matter (eventually, for the next installment, they would bring in yet another actor so I guess Cornillac wasn’t really convincing after all). Indeed, I thought the whole thing was filled with awkward and uninteresting jokes and, frankly, it was just plain boring. The cast was filled by many French stars but it didn't really saved this movie from total boredom. To conclude, it is pretty average and not really worth a look, even if you are a big fan of Astérix and Obélix.
