A classic

Since I kept hearing good things about this flick, I got really intrigued and I definitely wanted to check it out. Eventually, I really did like it a lot but, somehow, it didn’t really blew me away though. First of all, on a technical level, it was indeed a really impressive feature. Indeed, those puppets and the sets just looked great and I really enjoyed the creatures, the characters and, basically, the whole fantasy world they managed to create which was just fascinating. Frankly, I had never seen something like this before, a Fantasy Adventure only with some puppets, and the makers should be credited for trying to create something so original. On the downside, since you are dealing only with some puppets here, the whole thing tended to be really static and the action scenes were not really successful. Basically, half of the movie, you have the puppets talking to each other without doing much else which is quite understandable since you can’t constantly move them but then, in this case, you wonder if this medium was just not too much limited to tell a story on this scale. Still, in spite of these flaws, if only to see this amazing world, it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
