An average movie

I wasn't really sure what to expect from this flick but since I have a weak spot for Rosamund Pike, I thought I might as well check it out. On top of that, one of my colleagues just saw it and told me it was actually pretty good so I was rather intrigued. Well, to be honest, I really had a hard time about the damned thing after all and I wonder why my colleague thought it was so hilarious. I mean, sure, the actors involved were not bad and there was some funny dialogues here and there but it was just not enough for me. The other thing with this movie is that most of it was actually seriously generic and rather boring but, then, they added this Viking funeral obviously to shake things up and to show that it was something else that your typical average comedy about a dysfunctional comedy but it didn't really work, I'm afraid. Indeed, this whole event was seriously weird and, in fact, who could blame the press to be shocked? However, in this movie, they displayed it through the eyes of the grand-children involved and, of course, it seemed then to be rather sweet but they completely ignored how insane this plan actually was. Imagine if your children  would go to the beach with your father or your father-in-law and they would come back saying that their grand-father was dead, that they put him on a raft and set the whole thing on fire. Would you then say 'Wow, how creative!' ? Anyway, even this movie didn't really work for me, I have to admit that it was still watchable and I guess it is worth a look, at least, if you like the genre.
