An average movie

Nowadays, I have Netflix and Popcorn and not only I have since then an endless selection or movies to choose from but, as a result, I have became slightly more picky regarding the movies I watch. Before, I used to watch pretty much anything as long as it was starring one or two actors I was interested in and, as a result, I would sometimes end up watching some really obscure features. This movie was a perfect example and the only reason I watched it was because it was featuring Dennis Quaid. At least, this movie was dealing with a very interesting subject. Indeed, dreams are just fascinating and they represent a limitless source of inspiration for film makers. However, even though this flick was dealing with dreams, it was definitely not on the level of something like 'Inception'. Basically, the plot and directing were really average, the dialogues were even laughable and even the music was way too cheesy (I was rather stunned when I discovered afterwards that it was composed by Academy Award winner Maurice Jarre). To make things worse, Kate Capshaw and Dennis Quaid both gave some very poor performances and Quaid was really not convincing as some kind of telepathic genius. Fortunately, the great Max von Sydow can't do no wrong and was alright here. Actually, there were some interesting ideas here and I did like the dreams sequences but, basically, it was a movie dealing with a serious subject but it refused to take this subject seriously and the end result was therefore just completely underwhelming. To conclude, it is not really worth a look.
