An average movie

To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this flick. I mean, I have to admit it, I do have a weak spot for Meg Ryan but I have never been really wild about Matthew Broderick. Basically, I’ll give you that, the guy has done a few interesting movies in his career but most of the time, I find him just too bland and not really interesting. Anyway, here they were working together in a romantic-comedy (did Meg Ryan ever really tried something else?!?) and the result was unfortunately rather underwhelming. I mean, Meg Ryan was quite charming, as usual, but the story was not really entertaining whatsoever and I really had a hard time to care about the characters or what they were going through. Apparently, they tried to make some kind of sassy and edgy romantic-comedy but the characters were more annoying than entertaining. There was a also this terribly stereotypical and very obnoxious French character played by Tcheky Karyo (a French actor who used to show up quite often in Hollywood productions) and I guess it didn’t help me to enjoy this movie a little more, in the contrary. To conclude, it is basically a really average romantic-comedy and it is not really worth a look, even if you like the genre.
