A good movie

I already saw this movie but, since it was a while back and since I have it on DVD, I thought I might as well check it out again. Well, even though I really enjoyed re-watching ‘Star Trek’, the reboot/sequel from 2009, to be honest, I really struggled to care about ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ and, unfortunately, I pretty much had the same feelings about this (so far) last installment. The first time I saw it, I thought it was actually their best movie since they did reboot this franchise, most critics did agree but, even so, it did underperform at the box-office and, almost 10 years later, there is no sign that a new sequel will be made any time soon. Anyway, once again, it did look pretty spectacular though and it shows that this franchise works much better nowadays thanks to the current technology, at least, that’s my opinion. Concerning the story, they finally came up with something new and it worked fine, at least, most of the time. Still, the fact that I didn’t remember anything about this story shows actually how rather unremarkable it was after all. Still, it was a solid approach to spread out the crew in small groups so, even though the cast was pretty big, they all got something to do. The only issue was that they maybe had too many huge action scenes. As a result, each of these action scenes would take about 20 minutes of the running time leaving barely no time to develop the characters. Sofia Boutella was a perfect example. It was actually one of the first movies she made in Hollywood and I think it is still one of her better performances but, even though she was displayed prominently on all the promotional material, her character was barely developed after all. Anyway, to conclude, I think I might have been generous with my rating here but it was still an entertaining blockbuster and it is worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
