An average movie

To be honest, I was actually planning to skip this movie but Nick, my step-son, was really eager to check it out so we still end up watching the damned thing. First of all, even though it looks really cool, I have to admit that I have actually never played this video-game. Anyway, concerning the movie itself, for a video-game adaptation, I turned out to be a decent watch but I will be really surprised if it would turn out to be a hit. I mean, with Michael Fassbender, they definitely got one of the best actors right now and he was a great choice for the main double part but, even though he tried really hard, the 2 characters Callum Lynch and Aguilar de Nerha were actually barely developed. In fact, none of the characters were properly developed. Furthermore, even though I guess the Animus must be something really important in the game, I thought it was rather useless for a movie. Indeed, get rid off the damned thing and just tell 2 stories taking place in 2 different time periods with 2 related characters, it would have worked much better. Finally, I think it is a good example why such video-game adaptations might never work. Indeed, while the scenes in Spain with Arguilar were quite impressive and apparently rather faithful to the game, they were actually rather boring. I mean, in a game, you are actually the protagonist and the interactivity is a main factor why a game is actually entertaining. With a movie, the interactivity is gone and terribly missed. Anyway, to conclude, all in all, I thought it was not bad and I guess it might be worth a look, at least if you are a fan of these games.ย
