An average movie

Since I kept hearing some pretty good things about this movie, I thought I might as well check it out. The very same year, Denzel Washington showed up in 'The Equilazer' which had a very similar plot but even though 'The Equalizer' was also quite successful, I had actually a hard time to care about the damned thing and I thought that this movie was actually slightly better. First of all, even if it was their first directing effort for the two guys who made this movie (Chad Stahelski and David Leitch), they were actually really efficient and, above all, I really enjoyed the melancholic mood also helped by a really neat soundtrack. Furthermore, even though you might not expect to see Keane Reeves in such a badass action flick, the guy actually really nailed it. Indeed, Reeves has always been criticised for his somewhat wooden and emotionless acting skills but it worked perfectly to portray the main character in this movie. Still, the problem with this kind of vengeance tales is that the plot is always so damned generic and predictable and, even if it was very well done in this case, it never managed to go beyond the limits of the genre which was too bad. Anyway, to conclude, even though it didn't completely blow me away, it was still a decent watch and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
