An average movie

More than 10 years ago, John McTiernan released this movie which would be, so far, his last directing effort. Indeed, in the following years, he had some major issue with the Justice system since roughly 2007 and in 2013, he was sentenced to federal prison to serve a one-year term for lying to FBI agents. Anyway, I hope for him that he will have eventually the opportunity to direct something else since his last movie was rather disappointing. I mean, sure, if you would compare it to the really dreadful 'Rollberball', it was actually not bad but, still, the whole thing was just a rather ย generic and average thriller. The mood was decent, the cast was actually pretty good (indeed, it was the first time that John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson were working together since 'Pulp Fiction' which was released almost a decade before) and the story had some potential. Unfortunately, it is one of those thrillers which ends up with a really far-fetched and idiotic twist ruining the whole thing. In fact, it goes even further, the whole thing is pretty much succession of rather ridiculous twists. Itโ€™s too bad because if they kept a more straightforward story, it could have been a decent thriller but, at the end of the day, I donโ€™t think it is really worth a look.ย
