The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkein

A precursor to 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings' by some millenia, would interest hardcore fans of his well known works. The writing is pretty muddy, and is hardly engaging - it's not surprising to hear this work was released posthumously (largely edited by his son).
