Review of The Siege of Jadotville

So I have been meaning to watch this, but I have been distracted by other movies and shows. It's the first film by Richie Smyth so we shall see how he does. I mean Netflix originals usually do quite well except for maybe the crappy kid stuff. This is my second film from writer Kevin Brodbin who apparently also wrote Constantine! Anyways I hope this is good considering the cast and storyline. I guess I should go ahead and start it and see.

This was a pretty quick paced action story from beginning to end. In fact it doesn't take too long to get to the intense bits. The action is pretty intense without even being over the top with brutality. It has a few pretty creative and original moments I wasn't expecting to see. I didn't know anything about this story so I never expected what would happen. So the way everything played out was quite interesting. The ending itself was rather intriguing.

For a quick to the point war story there is actually a decent amount of character development. I actually really liked these characters. This Rene Faulques is an interesting person. I think Guillaume Canet played him quite well. In fact everyone of course plays their part quite well, but I think his performance made the person more than just being a typical enemy.

The people are interesting. The actors do a great job with who they are portraying. The character development is actually pretty well done for a movie that almost gets straight into action. Once it gets started it seldom lets go. The action is intense with a few fresh ideas sprinkled around. If you haven't seen this yet it is quite a good and interesting story.
