Since I kept hearing many good things about this flick, I was quite curious and I really wanted to check it out. To be honest, I was at first rather skeptical about the whole thing because, in my opinion, being a pimp must be of one the worst jobs either but you have to give some credits to the people involved in this movie as they still managed to make me sorry for the poor bastard. Furthermore, I have to congratulate Terrence Howard who gave here a really impressive performance. It was thanks to this flick that his career took off (what happened to him actually?!? After he got kicked off from the MCU after 'Iron Man', he had been struggling for quite some time but, apparently, he recently finally had some success with the TV-show ‘Empire’). On top of that, the directing was also very good as they succeeded in creating a whole environment which was very raw and realistic. Still, the whole thing was not flawless, even though it was very well done, it was still slightly stereotypical. Furthermore, the guy was still a pimp, exploiting women and such but the movie was actually never really critical about him. Anyway, even so, it was still a good flick and it is definitely worth a look.
