Review of The Blackburn Asylum

So to quench my thirst for carnage I came across this. It kind of looks like a mix of The Hills Have Eyes, Wrong Turn, and Thirteen Ghosts. I mean one of their characters is called 3Eyes. If that doesn't seem like a homage to Wrong Turn I don't know what is. Anyways it actually has some fairly familiar faces so that's a plus. Lauro Chartrand has made one other movie I have heard of, but this will be the first of his I've seen. This is the only movie written by Nastasha Baron so far. Now let's get this show on the road. Well that was just brutal. That decision was pretty dumb on that person's part. That is probably one of the creepiest gas station scenarios I've seen in horror films. The script and acting is a bit silly. Ah the typical horror rookie moves. Is this a homage to older films or is it trying to be it's own. Right now it just seems like a generic horror movie complete with constant bad decisions and cliche characters. Most of the characters aren't really all that likable except for Jade, the fifth wheel Shaun, and to an extent Luke (although he is growing on me). Now that right there is a good death scene! Just when I was beginning to get kind of bored. Well that's different and definitely creepy. Oh wow some friends! That was an interesting and unexpected ending. Okay these credits are hilarious "cast in order of death" and "they make sweet candy". So I would have liked a bit more carnage than we get. There are a few stabbings here and there that were just kind of simple. A few other types of kills weren't caused by wounds. There was only really one or two kills that were even interesting. It's not what I was expecting it to be, but it still had some good bits about it. If they do a sequel I'm curious how it will end up.
