An average movie

I think I had the soundtrack for this movie for already 20 years, so I was definitely eager to check the damned thing after all this time. Well, to be honest, it wasn't really good, I'm afraid. I mean, it is not that it was really bad, it was more that half of it was really neat and interesting but, unfortunately, the other half was pure garbage. Take for example the very first shot. Indeed, you get the first look of New Guinea, a great areal shot, with the great music of Pink Floyd but then they had to add some rather lame voice-over. Eventually, the whole thing was some kind of discovery of New Guinea by some hippy group which wasn't a bad idea but their biggest mistake was to add this uptight upper-class woman obessing about some feathers. I mean, Bulle Ogier did look lovely but her character was just so annoying and so boring, she pretty much ruined the whole thing. I don't know, at times, it seemed that the makers were not really sure if they should make a documentary so they added some plot but it was so thin, it barely worked. Finally, except for a few moments, Pink Floyd music was rather poorly used. Anyway, to conclude, even though it turned out to be rather disappointing, it was still an intriguing watch and I still think it is worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
