Review of Rest Stop: Don't Look Back (2008)

So after watching the first one I knew I wanted to see what else was in store for me. John Shiban only returns as the writer. Shawn Papazian takes over as director with no other work under his belt. The weird trailer family and Joey Mendicino are the only ones to return for this. I think Julie Mond has replaced Jaimie Alexander unless she is playing a new Nicole which I doubt. Ah thank goodness we got an explanation and it's the prologue of the movie! That was pretty messed up and crazy. That's always gross. It's funny whenever they show flashbacks from the first movie where you don't see Nicole's face well. It's like they think you wouldn't notice the vastly different look of the new girl. That ending I feel is definitely up to interpretation. So I really didn't care for the main couple in this. Jared was the most interesting out of the group to be honest. Marilyn is a huge step down from Nicole. It's not nearly as messed up or good as the first one although it does have a couple scenes where it was a little brutal. There were some great scenes when, but only in the latter half of the film. Specifically the bus scene as well as the gas station. I don't understand why people are so confused about these films. It's really not all that hard to comprehend. These aren't the typical sort of horror slasher movies that people are assuming. It's actually a lot more in depth than a typical one. If you have seen the first one you really should understand what is going on. If not then stop watching this and go watch that first. Anyways if you still don't get it just don't watch them. For me I enjoyed them for doing something new with the genre.
