Review of Now You See Me 2 (2016)

I really enjoyed the first movie. So when I found out they were making a second one I was pretty excited. The trailer was pretty cool. I was curious how they could up the ante here. I took a bit long to get to finally see it. From what I've heard from friends and such is that is as good if not better than the first one. Of course there are naysayers. Now Jon Chu is a weird choice to direct this. He mostly does music related movies like Step Up 2 and 3 as well as awful Justin Bieber concert films. He even did the G.I. Joe sequel. Anyways it will definitely be interesting to see what he does here. Ed Solomon returns as the screenwriter. He has always been enjoyable from the few movies I have seen of his. This is only the second film written by Peter Chiarelli. Anyways let's see what they could do here. It hasn't been that long since the first one and I forgot that it was Isla Fisher and not Lizzy Caplan in that one. She is a welcome addition in my opinion though. It was interesting to see Daniel Radcliffe play the villain for once. Everyone really held their own once again here. It's got a lot of good laugh out loud moments. I loved the magic here. It's so much more fun than the first one. It's so full of clever twists and turns. Jon Chu has surprised me with this one. I really can't say much else. It's definitely a much watch though. Especially if you like great twists and magic tricks.
