Before Gerard Butler finally had his breakthrough with ‘300’, he showed up in this rather obscure and forgotten movie. Well, even though I wasn’t really expecting much, I was actually positively surprised by the damned thing as it turned out to be a really solid drama. I have to admit it, the story was actually rather far-fetched but the directing and, above all, the acting were just so good that it made the whole thing quite spellbinding to watch. Furthermore, I was also impressed by the end which managed to give a whole new perspective on this tale and it made me appreciate this movie even more. Concerning Gerard Butler, after ‘300’ turned out to be a box-office success, he would then split his time between some action flicks or some romantic features. Well, even though his 1st romantic feature at the time (‘P.S. I Love You’) turned out to be a cult-classic (my step-daughter is for example a huge fan), I didn’t care much for it and his following romantic movies turned out to be really lame. Anyway, coming back to our main feature, to conclude, even though the whole thing was not flawless, I thought it was still a very touching and emotional drama and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
