I just watched Lords of Dogtown.
The kid's acting was good, I don't know how much went into Ledgers acting, even though he is one of my favorites. For most people it is easy to act wasted. :o) Although, it was a real treat for me to hear him sing some "Maggie May" with Rod Stewart.
I wish there would have been a consultant that knew something about skateboarding on staff to let them know when they were leaving holes in the script. I would have liked something with more clarity for the novice without sacrificing the art. For the experienced, well, you know the discrepancies.
Besides that I believe the script, directing and acting were much better than the finished product. It lacked the needed continuity which I can only assume landed on the editing floor. What was with the kids eating at a table and then getting chased out the back yard by a man with a golf club with no explanation?
I wouldn't even recommend this to hard and true Ledger fans, even though the ending was heart warming and brought quite a few smiles to my face.
