An average movie

I have to admit it it, the main reason why I wanted to watch this movie was because Johnny Depp was in it. Indeed, the huge star was in this movie for just one scene but he played a crucial character, some famous musician who disappeared 10 years before the actual story took place. I wish I didn't know this character would be played by Depp as it would have been really neat to discover it while watching the damned thing  but,  without this knowledge, I guess wouldn't have watched the damned thing at all (it is also rather lame that Depp is displayed so prominently on the IMDb page for this movie). Anyway, coming back to the damned thing, I thought this story actually had some great potential. Unfortunately, in fact like many other indie features starring Toni Colette, the whole thing was trying to be really too quirky. Take for example Thomas Haden Church's character, the guy was just impossibly cringe-inducing and it was only during the 3rd act that they finally balanced this character a little bit more but the damage was already done. Then, as I mentionned before , I really liked this story but this ending really didn’t do it any justice, in my opinion. To conclude, even though this interesting material was not very well developed, it was still a decent watch but I think it could have been much better.
