A good movie

The last time I saw my sister, she bought me a DVD-box with the complete work of Xavier Dolan so that's how I ended up watching his movies. It was actually pretty neat because, even though I kept hearing some interesting things about the guy, I hadn't watched anything he had directed yet. Obviously, the most logical way seemed to be starting with his directing debut and I can say that he really deserved all this praise. The thing I probably enjoyed the most about this movie was how recognizable the whole thing was. I'm pretty sure if I would show this movie to my wife, she would say right away that the guy is completely crazy (which might be partially true) but I was pretty much the same at this age, having all the time some major arguments with my mother about the most trivial things you could imagine. I must say that, even as an actor, Dolan was seriously charismatic and, if he wasn't interested in directing, he could easily become a leading actor. However, it was still rather obvious that it was a directing debut. Indeed, the whole thing felt pretty random and some elements didn't really work. For example, his relationship with the teacher didn't really work and it was either too much or too little developed. Anyway, to conclude, I thought it was pretty good and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
