A good movie

I actually already saw this flick but it was a very long time ago so I thought I should check it out again. The main attraction with this flick, in my opinion, is to see all those famous actors (C. Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Tom Cruise, Diane Lane) starting out their career. It was really neat but, on the other hand, actually rather distracting. I have noticed by that there is a major cult following around this book and the fans have always been really dismissive about this flick (apparently, Francis Ford Coppola didn’t get to release his version since it was cut by the studio and, in 2005, Coppola released a new director’s cut which might please more those fans). Anyway, I have to admit it, the story was not really original and it never reached the level of the numerous materspieces directed by Coppola but, still, I thought it was entertaining enough and I always thought there was still something quite spellbinding about this flick. Anyway, to conclude, it is obviously not one of Coppola's best features, but I still liked it and I think it is still definitely worth a look, especially if you are interested in this director’s work.
