An average movie

Honestly, before watching this movie, I had never heard of it but, if I'm not mistaken, it was one of those straight-to-dvd releases so I wasn't expecting much. Still, since there was a pretty cool cast, I thought I should check it out anyway. Personally, I always had a weak spot for a good old heist movie and this one definitely had some potential. Indeed, as soon as Morgan Freeman is involved, it is always a treat. Unfortunately, as usual, they felt compelled to add some useless twists at the end and it kind of ruined the whole thing for me. On top of that, it didn't help that they pretty much used every known clichés in the book. It's too bad because the whole thing was actually watchable. For Mimi Leder, it was her first full length feature since the flawed but still interesting 'Pay It Forward' which was released already 9 years before but I'm afraid it's not with something so pedestrian that she will make a real come-back. It is rather unfortunate because you don't have so many women directing such blockbusters like 'Deep Impact' or 'The Peacemaker'. Anyway, to conclude, it is a rather lazy and forgettable flick and it is not really worth a look after all.
