An average movie

Since it is such an obscure picture (I'm only the 3rd listal member who actually rated it), I had some rather low expectations but since I had this DVD for such a long time (at least 4 years...), I thought it was really time to watched the damned thing. Well, even though I always had a weak spot for Gene Hackman (the only reason why I even considered watching it in the first place), I didn't care much for it, I'm afraid. Indeed, to be honest, even though half of it was not bad, the other half was really some garbage. Take the plot for example, it was pretty much a weak and underwhelming copy of 'Rocky'. Therefore, the whole plot was pretty obvious from the start but the journey to get there was not really interesting or entertaining and the supposedly climactic fight at the end was just terribly underwhelming and rather poorly executed. Still, there were a few things here and there that actually did work. Indeed, I did like to see those 3 generations of boxers and how they interacted together and some of the actors, particularly Gene Hackman and Jeff Fahey, were not bad. To conclude, at the end of the day, the whole thing was pretty weak and I don't think it is worth a look.
