Since ย I kept hearing some pretty wild things about this flick, I was quite eager to check it out. Eventually, it turned out to be a rather dark comedy constantly filled with some really weird scenes and some rather funny bits here and there. It was clearly something original and I really liked the fact that the director managed to create a dystopian future without one single futuristic gadget or some fancy items. I also enjoyed the fact that he constantly managed to keep me on the wrong foot and I had seriously no idea what would happen next which is always delightful. However, and it is something actually common to most of the other absurdist movies I have seen, there was a terribly cold detachment towards the characters. Indeed, even though I don't really need to have the usual stereotypical heroes, here, all these characters were some really emotionless zombies without much thoughts or feelings and, therefore, it was rather difficult to care about what they were going through. On the other hand, maybe, what the director was getting at, was the fact that we are actually, every single day of our life, following some really absurd rules, either because everybody does it or because those rules have become so important, that this process is now completely unconscious and we don't notice how ridiculous our lifes have become? Anyway, even though it didn't completely blow me away, it was really intriguing and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.ย
